MySQL hosting connected for you.

Add a MySQL database to your project and attach it to your app. Its host, user and password land in your app's variables by themselves, with the names Laravel reads, and only your own project's apps can reach it, unless you open your own to your tools.

Shared, or one of your own.

Start shared for a blog or a small shop. Move to your own database when it gets busy.

  • Shared MySQL

A database and a user of your own on a MySQL shared with other customers, for a fixed price a month plus storage. Fair use keeps it fast for everyone: 30 connections per user, and any query stopped after 30 seconds.

  • Your own MySQL or MariaDB

Its own memory and processor, with limits you set, from 512 MB of memory. No fair-use guards, and you pay for what it really uses.

  • Close to your app

It runs right next to your project's apps when it can, which is the fastest place for it.

Nothing to type, so nothing to type wrong.

Attach the database to an app, and it gets DB_CONNECTION, DB_HOST, DB_PORT, DB_DATABASE, DB_USERNAME, DB_PASSWORD and DATABASE_URL. The app redeploys with them, without downtime.

  • Strong passwords, kept encrypted

We make each password, 32 random letters and digits. It never appears in a log.

  • A new password without downtime

For MySQL, the old password keeps working until every attached app runs with the new one.

  • Extra users

Up to 10 per database, each read and write or read only, with a password of its own: a read-only user for your reports, say.

Tools in the dashboard.

Move a site's data in, look at it, and keep an eye on it, without installing anything.

  • Import and export

Upload a .sql or .sql.gz file of up to 2 GB, in pieces that carry on after a dropped connection, or import from a link. Exports wait 24 hours for you to download.

  • A database manager

See your tables, browse rows 50 at a time, change a row, or run a query. A query that changes rows without a WHERE asks first.

  • Its numbers

Memory, processor, disk, connections and slow queries, every minute. If it stays at 90% of its memory for 5 minutes, we tell you.

  • Updates you can undo

A new build of your version is offered when it's out. We copy the data first, and keep the copy for 7 days in case you roll back.

Long-term versions only.

Both are their makers' long-term releases, so they get fixes for years. Pick MySQL unless your app asks for MariaDB.

Shared databases are MySQL 8.4.

Your own MySQL, priced in the open.

Say your own MySQL holds 0.5 GB of memory and uses 2% of a processor, all month. You pay for that use, hour by hour, from your wallet.

Can I reach my database from my laptop?
Yes, for your own MySQL or MariaDB: switch on connections from outside on its page. It gets an address like db-7h3k2q.tanzahost.co and a port of its own, takes only encrypted connections, and can allow only your own addresses. It's off until you switch it on. A shared MySQL is reached only from your project's apps: use the database manager in the dashboard.
Does WordPress need one?
No. Every WordPress site gets a MariaDB of its own, set up and connected for you.
How do I move my database from my old host?
Export it there as a .sql file, then import it on the database's page, from the file or from a link. The import shows how far it has got.
Can I make it bigger later?
Yes. Raise its memory limit and it takes it at once, with no restart. Lowering it restarts the database in a few seconds.
