Acceptable use policy
DraftIn short: What you may not host or do on Tanzahost, how we find it, and how to report abuse.
This is our draft, written from what Tanzahost really does. It isn't in force yet: it takes effect once our lawyer has approved it, and we'll show the date here.
Why this exists
Every app on Tanzahost shares our network, our addresses and our good name with other customers. One phishing page can get a whole address range blocked for everyone. This policy keeps Tanzahost safe and usable for all, and is part of the terms of service.
Not allowed
- Spam: sending email or messages people didn't ask for, or hosting what spam advertises.
- Cryptocurrency mining, of any coin, in any app, website or browser script.
- Phishing and fraud: pages that pretend to be another company or person to take passwords, cards or money; fake shops; scams.
- Malware: hosting or spreading viruses, ransomware, botnet controllers or attack tools aimed at others.
- Attacks: scanning, flooding or breaking into other systems, including ours and other customers', without their written permission.
- Illegal content: anything illegal where it's hosted or where it's aimed, including child sexual abuse material (reported to the authorities at once), content that infringes copyright or trademarks, and selling illegal goods.
- Abuse of people: threats, harassment, publishing others' private data, or hateful content that calls for violence.
- Getting around our limits: opening accounts to escape a suspension, reselling free credit, or using the service in a way meant to dodge charges.
Fair use
Free things, such as support from Sali and free addresses, are for running your own projects. If they're used as a general free service, we may ask you to move to the paid option.
How we find abuse
We check the public pages of hosted sites automatically, watch how apps behave (for example, a process that looks like mining), and read public blocklists. A person checks before anything but the clearest cases is stopped.
What happens
Depending on how serious it is, we write to you and ask you to fix it, pause the app or site, or suspend the account. We tell you why and how to ask for a review.
We pause at once, and tell you after, when there's an urgent danger: a confirmed phishing page, malware being spread, mining, or an attack in progress. Repeated or very serious abuse closes the account.
Reporting abuse
To report something hosted on Tanzahost, use the abuse form on our contact page, with the address and what's wrong. A person reads every report. For copyright, include the work, where it appears on our platform, your contact details and a statement that you believe in good faith it's not allowed, and that what you say is true.
We tell the customer what was reported, without your contact details unless the law requires them, and let them answer, except in urgent cases.
