Why a change takes time
Each answer is kept for its "Kept for" time by the resolvers that asked. Until then they give the old one.
Your nameservers decide
If your own nameservers already show the new answer, the change is made. The others catch up by themselves.
Which type to check
A and AAAA point a name at a server, CNAME at another name, MX receives email, TXT proves ownership and stops spoofing.
