WordPress starter

Add a WordPress site from the dashboard. We install it with its own database, unique keys and a strong admin password, and it updates itself.

WordPress needs no code from you and no repository. Add it from your project's page, give it a title and an admin, and we install it for you, with its own database, in about a minute.

Asha adds a blog, blog, beside her shop in her project duka.

Add the site

  1. On your project's page, in the Add a service card, choose WordPress.

  2. Under Site name, type a short name, like blog: up to 40 lowercase letters, numbers and dashes.

  3. Under Site title, type what visitors see, like Duka's blog. You can change it later in WordPress.

  4. Under Admin username, choose any name but admin, the first one attackers try. Then type the Admin email.

  5. For the Admin password, leave it to us: we make a strong one and show it once, after the install. Or turn on Use my own password and type one of 12 characters or more.

  6. Choose Create site.

WordPress runs on PHP 8.4, the version WordPress's own official release is made for, so there's no version to pick.

Copy the password, then log in

When the install ends, WordPress's admin password opens with the password we made. Copy it now: it's shown only this once. You can change it later in WordPress.

Choose Go to the site. On the site's page, WordPress admin opens WordPress's own admin, on the site's free address. Log in with your admin username and the password.

Change it like on any host

  • Plugins and themes: install them from WordPress's admin, as usual.

  • Files: open the site, then Files, to browse, upload and edit them in the browser. Each edited file keeps its earlier versions for 7 days.

  • PHP settings: on the site's page, change Largest upload, Memory per request and Time per request, and add extensions. The site restarts with them, with no downtime.

  • Scheduled tasks: add your own beside WordPress's, like cron jobs, with the output of every run.

Give it your domain

Add your domain, like blog.duka.co.tz. When the site gets a new address, we save its database first, then move WordPress to it with WordPress's own search and replace, so its links and settings stay right.
