Tanzahost and Render compared

How Tanzahost and Render differ on paying, the free tier, sleeping, databases, domains, workers, logs and support, with what Render does better.

Updated 17 Oct 20264 min readTheir facts were checked on 17 Oct 2026

The biggest difference: Render sells each service as an instance type with a monthly price, prorated to the second, on top of a workspace plan. Tanzahost has no plans or instance types: each app pays for the memory and processor it really uses, hour by hour, from a prepaid wallet. Render has a free tier, regions in the United States, Europe and Asia, several copies of a service and point-in-time recovery for Postgres. Tanzahost has MySQL and MariaDB beside PostgreSQL, scheduled tasks every minute, WordPress sites with a file manager, and a spending cap.

Every fact about Render below comes from Render's own pages, listed at the end, as they were on 2026-10-17.

Moving over

A Render web service maps to a Tanzahost app, a background worker to a worker, a cron job to a scheduled task, and Render Postgres to our PostgreSQL. To bring the data, export it with pg_dump in its plain format and import it: see import and export.
