Tanzahost and Vercel compared
Vercel runs server code as functions on a global network; Tanzahost runs whole apps that stay up, with databases beside them. What each does better.

The biggest difference: Vercel runs your pages from a global network and your server code as functions that start for each request and stop after a time limit. Tanzahost runs your whole app as one process that stays up, with workers, scheduled tasks and databases beside it in the same location. For a front end that has to be fast everywhere, Vercel is very strong. For a Laravel, Django or Node.js app with a queue, a database and long jobs, Tanzahost fits more naturally.
Every fact about Vercel below comes from Vercel's own pages, listed at the end, as they were on 2026-10-17.
Side by side

|---|---|---|
| How you pay | Each app pays for the memory and processor it uses, per hour, from a prepaid wallet you top up by card. No plan fee. | Hobby is free; Pro is $20 a month per developer seat with $20 of usage included, then pay as you go: for example, data transfer from $0.15 per GB after 1 TB included, and active CPU from $0.128 an hour. |
| Free tier | No free plan. Projects cost nothing; apps and databases pay by the hour for what they use. Our pricing shows any free amount. | Hobby, for personal, non-commercial use. Past one of its usage limits, that feature mostly waits until 30 days have passed. |
| Sleeping | Optional for each app: it sleeps after 15 minutes without visits and wakes on the next one. Off by default. | Not a setting: functions run when a request comes. Pro pays for active CPU time and provisioned memory. |
| Long-running work | Your app stays up. Up to 5 workers per app run all the time, for queues. | A function runs for at most 300 seconds on Hobby and 800 seconds on Pro (1,800 in beta). For longer work Vercel points to its Workflows, and Vercel Daemons (in public beta) run background workers. |
| Databases | MySQL 8.4, MariaDB 11.8, PostgreSQL 18 with pooling, Valkey 9.2, and shared MySQL, in your project's location. | Through the Vercel Marketplace, from providers like Neon, Upstash and Supabase. Vercel's own storage is Blob (files) and Global Config. |
| Custom domains and SSL | Your own domains, with SSL issued and renewed by itself. | Custom domains, with certificates issued and renewed by themselves. |
| Locations | One location per project, chosen when you make it. See our locations. | 19 compute regions and 126 points of presence. Functions run in one region by default (Washington, D.C.); Pro can choose several. |
| Build from GitHub | Yes, once our GitHub app is set up (it isn't yet): every push deploys, and pull requests can get previews. A ZIP upload works today. | Yes, from GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure DevOps, with a preview for every push. |
| Scheduled tasks | Up to 10 per app, as often as every minute, each for up to an hour. | Up to 100 cron jobs per project. Hobby runs them once a day at most, within the hour; Pro every minute. |
| Logs | Kept 7 days. Up to 3 log drains per project. | Runtime logs kept 1 hour on Hobby, 1 day on Pro, or 30 days with Observability Plus. |
| Support | Tickets from the dashboard, with your project's apps and recent errors attached, or the contact page. | Email support on Pro, none listed on Hobby; Enterprise adds support with its platform SLAs. |
What Vercel does better
Speed everywhere for static pages and cached content, from 126 points of presence.
Scale without thinking: functions take up to 30,000 requests at once on Hobby and Pro.
More Git providers: GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure DevOps as well as GitHub.
A free plan for personal projects.
What Tanzahost does differently
Your app is a normal, long-running program. There's no function time limit: workers run all the time, and a scheduled task may take up to an hour.
Databases next to the app, in the same location and on the project's own private network, made from the dashboard and paid like an app. See databases.
No personal-only plan. A shop or a client's site runs on the same terms as a hobby project.

A spending cap on every wallet. See the spending cap.
WordPress and PHP sites too, with a file manager.
What Tanzahost doesn't do yet
A global network for your pages: an app is served from its project's location.
Several copies of one app, or one app in several locations.
A command-line tool you can download. Ours is built, and its download opens with its first release; the API and the AI tools server work today.
Git providers other than GitHub.
