WordPress with WooCommerce

Install WordPress with WooCommerce in one click: an online shop on WordPress, with payments, stock and orders. What it makes, its admin page and first steps.

Updated 29 Oct 20262 min read

WooCommerce turns WordPress into a shop: products, a basket, orders and payments. The plugin comes from wordpress.org pinned to one version, with its checksum checked before it is installed, and the shop's settings are safe from the first minute.

What it makes

  • A WordPress site sized for a starting shop: 512 MB of memory and half a processor. They are ceilings, not sizes: raise or lower them whenever you like, and pay only for what the shop really uses. See limits.

  • A MySQL database of its own, created and wired to the site with nothing to type.

  • A free address with HTTPS the moment it opens, plus the project's backups, the first taken as soon as there is something to keep.

Install it

Asha sells kanga cloth from a stall and wants the shop beside her duka project.

  1. Open the project and, on its Overview, choose Add a service → From the catalog.

  2. Find WordPress with WooCommerce (search for it, or browse its category), then press Install.

  3. Give the shop an App name like shop, and type the Admin email you will sign in with.

  4. Look over the limits and the monthly estimate, then press Install.

The admin password is shown once: copy it and press I've saved it. While the card works through its steps toward Ready, the shop is closed to visitors but yours to open.

Its admin page

Press Open its admin page on the card when the steps finish (the shop's address with /wp-admin/ behind it), sign in, and the setup wizard walks through the shop's basics. Afterwards:

  1. Products → Add New — your first product, with its price and stock.

  2. WooCommerce → Settings → Payments — how customers pay you.

  3. Appearance → Customize — your logo, your colours and the front page.

Order emails should come from your own domain so they don't land in spam folders: see sending email from your app.

Updates

The shop keeps itself: WordPress and the WooCommerce plugin apply their own updates, and the project's backups hold each day's work, so one bad morning never loses an order. More about the site underneath is in WordPress.

Licence

WooCommerce is made by its own team and keeps its own licence, GPL-2.0-or-later. Its home is woocommerce.com.
