The Deploy button

Put a Deploy to Tanzahost button in your project's README, so anyone can run their own copy of your public GitHub repository in a few minutes.

The Deploy button lets anyone run their own copy of your open-source project on Tanzahost. You put it in your README; a visitor clicks it, picks a project, sees the price, and their copy builds from your newest commit.

Make your button

Open the Deploy button page, paste your repository's address, and copy the Markdown or the HTML into your README. For a repository at https://github.com/juma-dev/duka-shop, the Markdown is:

Terminal
[![Deploy to Tanzahost](https://tanzahost.com/button.svg)](https://app.tanzahost.com/deploy-button/?repo=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fjuma-dev%2Fduka-shop)

The repository must be public on GitHub. We read it without signing in, so nobody needs to connect GitHub to use your button.

What happens when someone clicks it

  1. They sign in, or make an account.

  2. They pick a project and its location, or make a new one, and see the app's price before anything starts.

  3. We read your repository, find its kind (Laravel, Node.js, Python, PHP or a static site) and build your branch's newest commit.

  4. Their app gets its own free address, and they can add their own domain.

Their copy is theirs. It doesn't follow your later commits, and nothing is ever written to your repository. To take a newer version, they deploy again from the app's page.

Make it start well

  • Add a settings file for the build and start commands, if your project needs more than the usual ones.

  • List the variables your app needs in your README; they add them on the app's Variables tab.

  • Keep secrets out of the repository: anyone can read it.

Earn from your template

A project that many people start from can become a community template. Templates are listed for everyone on the new app's page, after a review, and their creators earn a share of what the apps made from them pay. See "Your templates" in the dashboard's Partners page.
